Crazy.Stupid.Love.

I watched Crazy, Stupid, Love yesterday. The movie was awesome! It's my new favorite movie. There were unexpected twists. It made me laugh. It made me cry. Most of all it gave me a lot to think about.

The premise of the movie revolves around find one's one and only true soul mate. This is confusing to me. Can this be? Could it really be true? In the movie, the main characters each have one true soul mate whom they fall in/out of love.  This is troublesome to me. What are the chances that people actually find their one true love.

I think that people have many individuals who can and do fulfill different purposes in their lives.  This includes significant others. I think people have many different options for love, and many individuals who are good fits for them. Otherwise, there would either be a lot more people who are single or a bunch of married people are living a lie.

This idea of one soul mate also brings up fears for myself.  What if I never find my one true love? or what if I have, but I've let it go and didn't fight for it? I would drive myself crazy by worrying about the what ifs. So, I won't. I need to have faith that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be in my life.  I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that there is a lesson to be learned.

So . . .  LOVE . . . it is crazy and can certainly be stupid at times.

Let it be me . . .

When things don't feel quite right and I'm feeling down, it is very easy to be negative. The past 36 hours have been specially rough.  Being that I'm a procrastinator and school has me absolutely burnt out, I didn't start studying for today's exam until 530 yesterday. So, I pulled, yet again, another all nighter this summer. Between the lack of sleep and the nervousness of not knowing what I got on the exam, I've been stuck in a funk today.

So, instead of complaining and whinnying about it all, I'm going to turn this around and talk about some things I'm thankful for.

First of I have to say that I have the best family and friends.  As time goes by and I get older, I'm amazed at how many wonderful people have come into my life. . .  Some for a short amount of time and others that I know will be around and in my heart for a lifetime.  Each and and every person has taught me something about anything--life, friendship, love, heartache, hurt and pain, joy, and ultimately about myself--regardless all are valuable lessons.  I feel so thankful for my family and the support they've provided.  My aunt is someone that I hold very close to my heart.  She is an amazing person and someone that I only hope to be half as good as.  Also, I would not be where I am today if it weren't for the people I'm lucky to call my friends.  Through the ups and downs of my life, they have been there for me . . . NO MATTER WHAT.  So to them, I say THANK YOU. You have have helped shaped me into who I am today.

Next, as most of you know, I have to mention my puppy dog.  I have said this before, and I will say this again . . . Baxter helped save my life. He came into my life right before the lowest of the lows of my life.  I'm not sure I would have survived without him. It's astonishing the sort of companionship you can get from a pet. AND as silly as this sounds, he helps me feel like I have some sort of purpose in life.

Ray has summed up what these individuals have done for me. So, in return, when it's a friend that you need, let it be me. I truly feel lucky to have you all in my life.

Let it be me - Ray Lamontagne

There comes a time
A time in everyone's life
When nothing seems to go their way
When nothing seems to turn out right
There may come a time
You just can't seem to find your place
For every door you open
Seems like you get two slammed in your face
That's when you need someone
Someone that you can call
When all your faith is gone
It feels like you can't go on
Let it be me
Let it be me
If it's a friend you need
Let it be me
Let it be me
Feels like you always coming up last
Pockets full of nothing
Ain't got no cash
Don't matter where you turn
You ain't got no place to stand
You reach out for something and they slap your hand
Just how it feels to be all alone
You feel like you'd give anything
For just a little place you can call your own
That's when you need someone
Someone that you can call
When all your faith is gone
It feels like you can't go on
Let it be me
Let it be me
If it's a friend you need
Let it be me
Let it be me
Let it be me
Let it be me
If it's a friend you need
Let it be me
Let it be me
Let it be me
I remember all too well

I miss my little puppy boy

Puppy boy Baxter-Boo is in Columbus with Grandma and Grandpa.  I'm pulling an all-nighter tonight, and I feel bad leaving him crated all night then all day while I'm at school. So he gets to spend quality time with Grandma and Grandpa.

I came home from clinical on Thursday to find an awesome mess in my bedroom!  Puppy boy had a GOOD time while I was gone.  He tore up a couple of plastic bags-which were not on the floor by the way-and drug my trash can from the bathroom to the bedroom. Silly puppy dog!
Surprise Momma!!! Bax had a fun day.

The weekend is coming to an end, and I need to start studying for tomorrow's exam.  I have no motivation to study. I hope I pass.  The weekend was great! Lots of fun.

I had my first experience at the drive in yesterday. It was super fun!  There were lots of interesting people all around.

Babies . . . here I come!!!

This is my first week in my OB rotation. Let me just say that I'm a teeny bit excited but mostly FRIGHTENED! Today was my first day on the floor, and everything went well. I almost got to see a delivery. That was kind of cool. But, I was so nervous I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. I woke up at 230 and never fell back asleep.

I love kids and cuddling babies (there's no way, shape, or form that I am even remotely ready for kids) but the whole thought of having a huge baby come out of a little hole makes my body ache ALL OVER.  After having 2 lectures of the birth process, I am convinced that I never want to get pregnant.  The changes that a woman has to go through in order to accommodate a baby is just plain NUTS. Plus, all the complications and pain that a woman goes through put me over the edge. I never knew a lot of the stuff that we covered in class.

Pregnancy? Thanks, but no thanks. I'll just adopt.

With all that being said, I know I'll probably change my mind one day. After all, anyone who knows me knows that I love babies ... will I really be able to give this up?

My guess is no. Or I could become a nanny. Then I'd get to cuddle babies all day long and give them back to the parents at the end of the day. Sure . . . that's the answer right?

And we're back ....

Boy it's been a while since we've visited here.  Bax and I have had LOTS of changes in our lives since the last post. Some good, some bad . . . c'est la vie.

Summer is flying by ... FAST!  I can't believe it's mid July already. We've done lots of fun things this summer, and Bax had his first sleep away from home around my birthday.  He stayed with Grandma for a whole week in Columbus.  I'm sure he loved every minute of it. He gets very very spoiled over there with my aunt and uncle. They love him so much.

Aren't they cute?

I'm lucky to have them in my life as is Baxter.

Now that I've figured out how to post from my phone, maybe I'll keep this semi-update? Only time will tell.
