A time when you finally get it

One of my facebook friends posted this ... absolutely beautiful.

There comes a time in your life when you finally get it…when, in the midst of all your fears and insanity, you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out…ENOUGH! Enough fighting and crying, blaming and struggling to hold on! Then, like a child quieting down after a tantrum, you blink back your tears and begin to look at the world through new eyes.

You realize it's time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change, or for happiness, safety and security to magically appear over the next horizon.

You realize that in the real world there aren't always fairy tale endings, and that any guarantee of "happily ever after" must begin with you…and in the process a sense of serenity is born of acceptance.

Your stop complaining and blaming other people for the things they did to you – or didn't do for you – and you learn that the only thing you can really count on is the unexpected.

You learn to stand on your own and to take care of yourself…and in the process a sense of safety and security is born of self-reliance.

You stop judging and pointing fingers and you begin to accept people as they are and to overlook their shortcomings and human frailties…and in the process a sense of peace and contentment is born of forgiveness

You learn to open up to new worlds and different points of view. You begin reassessing and redefining who you are and what you really stand for.

You learn that you don't know everything; it's not your job to save the world. You learn the only cross to bear is the one you choose to carry.

You stop trying to control people, situations and outcomes. You learn to distinguish between guilt and responsibility and the importance of setting boundaries and learning to say NO.

You learn the only thing you must truly fear is fear itself. You learn to step right into and through your fears because you know that whatever happens you can handle it and to give in to fear is to give away the right to live life on your own terms.

You learn to fight for your life and not to squander it living under a cloud of impending doom.

You learn that life isn't always fair, you don't always get what you think you deserve and that sometimes bad things happen to unsuspecting, good people…and you learn not to always take it personally.

You learn that nobody's punishing you and everything isn't always somebody's fault. It's just life happening. You learn to admit when you are wrong and to build bridges instead of walls.

You learn that negative feelings such as anger, envy and resentment must be understood and redirected or they will suffocate the life out of you and poison the universe that surrounds you.

You learn to be thankful and to take comfort in many of the simple things we take for granted, things that millions of people upon the earth can only dream about: a full refrigerator, clean running water, a soft warm bed, a long hot shower.

Finally, with courage in your heart, you take a stand, you take a deep breath, and you begin to design the life you want to live as best as you can.

Vulnerable? What's vulnerable?

“Why do you attach so much negativity to being vulnerable?” she asked.
Well that’s a dumb question, I thought. “Um, because being vulnerable means being weak and open to getting hurt.”
“I see why you believe that, but what if it didn’t have to be true?” She then shared a quote she’d heard from one of her graduate professors: “Perfect vulnerability is perfect protection.”
I fought back an eye roll. Sure, that sounded awfully Zen, but it was clearly an oxymoron.
“I know it sounds contradictory,” continued my coach, always a step ahead of me. “But take a minute to really think about it. What if perfect vulnerability – expressing your real self and being most authentically you, even when it’s scary – is the safest place you can be? Any time you connect with people by hiding parts of yourself or not being authentic, you create relationships that aren’t in alignment with who you really are. Then you have to maintain that false version of yourself to keep up the relationship. And what’s safe about that?”

Living in the moment

Love love LOVE this song! Thank you Mr. Mraz for this!

If this life is one act
Why do we lay all these traps
We put them right in our path
When we just wanna be free

I will not waste my days
Making up all kinds of ways
To worry about some things
That will not happen to me

So I just let go of what I know I don't know
And I know I'll only do this by
Living in the moment
Living our life
Easy and breezy
With peace in my mind
With peace in my heart
Peace in my soul
Wherever I'm going, I'm already home
Living in the moment

I'm letting myself off the hook for things I've done
I let my past go past
And now I'm having more fun
I'm letting go of the thoughts
That do not make me strong
And I believe this way can be the same for everyone

And if I fall asleep
I know you'll be the one who'll always remind me
To live in the moment
To live my life
Easy and breezy
With peace in my mind
I got peace in my heart
Got peace in my soul
Wherever I'm going, I'm already home

I can't walk through life facing backwards
I have tried
I tried more than once to just make sure
And I was denied the future I'd been searching for
But I spun around and searched no more
By living in the moment
Living my life
Easy and breezy
With peace in my mind
I got peace in my heart
Got peace in my soul
Wherever I'm going, I'm already home

I'm living in the moment
I'm living my life
Just taking it easy
With peace in my mind
I got peace in my heart
I got peace in my soul
Oh, wherever I'm going, I'm already home
I'm living in the moment
I'm living my life
Oh, easy and breezy
With peace in my mind
I got peace in my heart
I got peace in my soul
Oh, wherever I'm going, I'm already home
I'm living in the moment

All Alright

And it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all alright.
Yeah, it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest
,but it's all alright.
And I got the call soon as the day hit night.
As soon as the headlights lit up the Westside.
I stopped the car and came outside
Cause I know that tone.
I remember the first timewe wished upon parallel lines.
Waiting for a friend to call
and say they're still alive.
I've given everyone I know
a good reason to go.
I was surprised you stuck around
long enough to figure out
That it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all alright.
Yeah, it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all alright.
And now all my loves that come back to haunt me.
My regrets and texts sent to taunt me.
I never claimed to be more than a one-night stand
I've given everyone I knowa good reason to go
But I came back with the belief
that everyone I love is gonna leave me.
And it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all alright.
And it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all all
And I know, ohh nooo,
You've fallen from the sun.
Crashing through the clouds.
I see you burning out.
And I know,
ohh nooo,
that I put up a front
But maybe,
just this once,
let me keep this one.
And it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all alright.
And it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all alright.
Yeah, it's all alright.
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all alright.
And it's all alright
I guess it's all alright.
I got nothing left inside of my chest,
but it's all alright…

An Open Letter To The Guy Who Called Me “Crazy” - The Frisky

An Open Letter To The Guy Who Called Me “Crazy” - The Frisky: "I will leave it to you to figure out why it is that responded this way. It could be worth an examination. My guess? In our culture, “crazy,” “bitchy” and “mean” are three of the worst words that you can call a woman. Those words you used are dismissive on purpose. Those words are intended to shut a woman down, because women know society doesn’t like mean, crazy bitches. Got the message loud and clear, sweetie"
